Skating is one of the many wonderful winter activities you can do in the Siljan district. To skate on a mirror-like ice on Lake Siljan or Lake Orsa (Orsasjön) is an experience, quite beyond the ordinary. The rhythm, the speed and the sense of nature is well suited for the whole family and for all ages. Guided tours are arranged during the season, when conditions allow. The skating season starts in November and starts with guided tours on natural ice on the smaller lakes.
Around Christmas Lake Orsa is frozen and the skating tracks on lake Saxviken in Mora and on lake Orsa are prepared.. There are miles of prepared skating tracks and several races and activities are arranged for both the unexperienced and advanced skaters. The prepared skating tracks are normally open until the end of March.
